The Blinkies :)

So this is the first time I have tried to put a video on here from my video camera but hopefully it works. The past couple of weeks Addie has been doing this thing I call the "blinkies". I could never figure out why she was doing it but it is seriously the funniest thing ever. Well...she got this new toy that Billie sent up for her to play with and she loves it! This video is of her doing the blinkies in her new toy. She does it a couple of times throughout the video but you can't really tell until the end she does it long enough to watch. You might want to turn the sound off :) Its better that way :)

I also did a fun thing and painted Addie's toenails :) I learned my lesson though and found out I should wait until she is sleeping :) She kept having to watch and she would move her toe to see what I was doing. Her big toe has a nail long enough to easily paint. Her other little toes are still pretty little but it was still dang cute :)

Addie is 3 months!

Hello All!

Sorry it has been so long. I tried to post a couple of weeks ago but for some reason blogger was not liking me. Anyway... This past Thursday was Addie's 3 month birthday :) She is such a sweetheart! The past week and a half she has been sleeping from 9-6 sometimes 9-7. I am so blessed. Her 3 month milestones are: Great head control, Rolls over easily, Makes TONS of sounds and talks to me all the time, Giggles, Watches movement and responds to sound, Can stand up for like 2 seconds with no help, Stands against the couch for like 5 seconds with no help, Puts things in her mouth and chews. (She has had the stub of her first tooth since she hit 2 months! Crazy huh?!! ) Recognizes mommy and daddy and even laughs at us when we go to get her out of her crib.
We made a huge movement and she started sleeping in her crib instead of her bassinet by my bed. I think I had a harder time with it than her. I was watching her monitor every hour to make sure she was ok. I guess this is one time that having a video monitor might not have been such a benefit.

As for what else we are up too...well not a whole lot except enjoying fall. We are excited for exciting things coming up including Jared's family getting sealed in November, and an exciting vacation in December. Jared has been working hard at getting projects finished around that house and is finishing my laundry room downstairs! I'm so excited. Anything to make laundry more fun :)

Anyway......

Here are some 3 month pics of Addie

Adalyn's 2 month stats

Today was Adalyn's 2 month appointment. That meant she had to get her first shots......which I hated. It sucked. Poor little niave innocent baby did not like what happened. She cried and screamed. It was sad. But we did find out she is growing like a weed! Last appointment she was around the 50% for her weight and height. Today, she was 81 % for her height (23.5 inches) and 90% for her weight (12.7 lbs). She is not my tiny baby anymore.
The doctor was so amazed at how much she was smiling during the appointment. She has been giving us legit smiles since 5 weeks. She is such a happy baby and thinks mom and dad are pretty funny (for now :)). She makes tons of sounds and found a really high pitch one today. Not sure about that one :). She has a bad cold so that sucks but she still has not been very fussy even though she has a hard time breathing. She normally sleeps about 6-7 hours at night and then eats and goes back to sleep for another 2-3. With the cold it hasn't been so good but it could be lots worse! She is very alert and if we are not careful we catch her watching TV. She loves it but we don't really like her watching it yet.
We love our little girl so much. I can't believe she is growing so fast. It is so cliche but so true! Slowly I am learning what being a mom really is all about and starting to understand the love I feel for this little thing.

Dress pics for Grandma Lou and Addie talking :)

These are pics of Addie in the dress that Grandma and Grandpa K brought her from Mexico. She looked sooo cute for church and im glad she could wear it before it got too cold.
Below the pics is a random video of Addie talking one day. The video is horrible cause my camera is a piece but her talking is more toward the end and its worth the wait (at least thats what i think). Her talking is one of my fave things!!

On other updates, Jared and I had our one year anniversary this month. It has been such a great year! I love him sooo much and love that he works so hard to support us. He is an amazing daddy and amazing husband all in one! Happy Anniversary Babe! (A week ago)

Firsts

This week we had a few firsts.

Adalyn had her first "real" bath and also her first sunday at church this week. I will admit, church did not go as well as I thought it would. She slept through Sacrament and Sunday school so by RS I was thinking this was a breeze. I soon found out why everyone was so amazed that I was trying to go to all 3 hours. She woke up 5 minutes into RS hungry. I took her to the mothers lounge which is far from sufficient and was crowded with women from other wards that I did not know. Then in the middle of feeding we get a blown out diaper. Then she was just mad. I quickly texted Jared and told him we were going home. Luckily it was only 10 minutes early. Did I mention that in the process of changing the blown out diaper I was leaning over to get stuff out of my diaper bag and I split my skirt all the way up to my butt! Yeah...I didn't know until we got home. I was soooo embarressed. It was an interesting day!

The bath, however, was much more successful! Adalyn hates being naked so she was crying until I put her in the water. Her face almost looked shocked, like "wo, this is not too bad". It was cute. She loved it! Hopefully bath time continues to be a good part of the day.
On a second note.... we had her second check up last Wednesday. She had to get her heel pricked for blood. I hated that and so did she. But we found out she now weighs about 8.5 lbs and is 20.5 inches long! She grew 2 inches in 2 weeks. She is in

Pictures of my Angel and her one week check up

We had our baby girl! :) Forgot that I hadn't posted anything about it yet. I guess I am skipping a step. Adalyn Ava Mellor was born June 24th at 6:16 pm. She was 7lbs 8oz and 18 inches long. They had to induce me but once I was on my way to having her there was no stopping me :) I was in labor for 8 hours but only had to push for about 10 minutes. The epidural made it seem so easy but I know if my legs hadn't have been numb I wouldn't be saying anything close to easy. We brought her home June 26th in the afternoon and have been having a great time adjusting ever since!

(thanks to my wonderful mom for coming and staying for a few days to help me adjust!!! It was fun to learn from the best! :) )

So... yesterday we took Adalyn to the doctor for her one week check up. Yep she gained weight! :) Usually babies lose a little wieght the first week. Guess this means feeding is going well. I can't complain though because her little chubby cheeks just make me smile all the time.

I can't believe it has been a week. Those days in the hospital are just a blur. Not fun. We are having such a great time adjusting to the parenting thing and it melts me to see the connection Jared has with our little girl.

Here are some pictures from the hospital and the past week.......

pregnancy lessons

So.. I went to the doctor today and found out that they will be inducing me tomorrow! I'm scared, excited, anxious, and much more. Maybe knowing when you will have the baby is worse than just having to deal with it when it happens so you don't have time to think about all of this stuff.
Anyway I was just thinking that I wanted to write some of the things I have learned from this pregnancy. Its suprising to look back at the things that have changed me or things I have experienced in this nine months. Some are good lessons and some I don't want to experience again. So here we go.... I'll keep it to 10 :)

10 things I learned from this pregnancy

1.People love to give advice. Its usually good advice but I have heard most of the same things at least twice
2. No pregancy is the same so listen to your body more than other people
3. True Love. You never know true love until you are sick and not your best self emotionally and still have a wonderful husband who sticks by you through it all
4. Yes....the first trimester is that bad (even though I didn't puke, I was sick and had THE WORST Iron taste in my mouth ever! I do know people have worse first trimesters than me and for that I really look up to those people)
5. I'm thankful I have a heavenly father to help me through this parenting thing
6. I'm thankful for earthly parents that stand by me and are there to listen to my complaints about pregnancy but also share my excitement
7. There is nothing cooler than feeling the baby move inside you. Its almost alien-like
8. Once you hit 38 weeks watch out. It is the most uncomfortable time of the pregnancy.
9. The internet has lots of cool information about everything dealing with pregnancy but if you have a problem you can pretty much verify it even if you don't have it by how you choose to "look it up".
10. You obviously forget how uncomfortable and long 9 months of pregnancy are after you deliver or most people probably wouldn't have more kids.

The biggest lesson of all is that I am blessed! I am blessed for the opportunity to have a child and to experience all of the crazy things with pregnancy. I know there are probably a million people out there better suited for this parenting thing and I am grateful to my heavenly father for choosing me to have the oportunity to raise this child!

First Picture post!

So my camera is out of batteries and I have no idea where the charger is. Guess I should probably find that soon or my daughter may have no pictures of her first days here. I did however manager to use my i-phone to get some pictures of the nursery. It isn't finished yet (and is a mess if you look closely enough) but I thought while I was actually on here I would add some pics of it anyway. My first craft project for my little girl was the name hanging on the wall. I realized I'm not the best person at crafty things and will probably leave that to people who are from now on but...its the thought that counts and it did turn out a little better than it seemed like it would as I was doing it.
